I got a message from a subscriber of mine named Mayra
) asking if I received the package she sent me. I usually only check my PO BOX when I am expecting something and when some tells me they sent me something 🙂
I jumped in my car and rushed over to the post office as though I had a pot of gold waiting for me. To my surprise, I got just that. To me, religious items of the Catholic Church are not only spiritual…they are a piece of my heritage. I am proud to be Latina, Mexican American, despite the random post out there in hater nation. As a child I wasn’t able to speak Spanish because my father did not understand it and he thought we might be talking badly of him. He left when I was 3 years old so that was for nothing. So I lost my accent and sound like a ‘gringo’ now. I shy away from speaking my native tongue because I do not want anyone to be offended and think I am disrespecting my culture, my people. I need to get that silliness out of my head and handle it! When I was in High School I wanted to represent Mexicanos by becoming a Mexican American Activist. I’m sadden by my obvious turn of events and was unsuccessful. Needless to say I am a proud Mexican and I am not afraid to show it!
Okay, okay…back to the topic at hand. This is what came in the package: bracelet, necklace and charm. Also a letter but I felt that was more personal and only for my brown eyes to see.
I’m sure you have all seen these busted bracelets on my wrists in a lot of my videos. I never take them off. I wish I took value to pieces that go with a lot more outfits but I still love these all the same. Starting from the top, I made that one (was purple and pink) when I was in Virginia alone for a month while Kris was deployed. I made him one too and we both wore them always. The second one was made at a swapmeet
for $3 and Kris had one already so I wanted one too! The third is the new one, and the last is suppose to look like the one above it. It looks so nasty now. It was nice when I first got it. I was wearing it when I gave birth to Jude and it was blessed by a priest. I must have cleaned like Cinderella these past couple of years because all of the saints fell off and my skin is as dry as an alligator’s lol
This next item is a girly
spin on religious patches that hang on small pieces of thread
. This one reads “Virgencita x fis protejeme“
translates to “Virgin (Virgin Mary) protect me”
“Virgencita x fis que no mo odien x ser bonita“
translates to “…don’t let them hate me because I’m pretty” hehe
. I am wearing this necklace as I type. I thought it was cute.
I need to get a thin chain so I can wear this one also.
“Angelito no me desampares aunque llegue trade a mi casa“
translates ” Angel don’t forsake me even when I am late coming home”
this is super sweet for a young girl to wear. I love the messages.
I am very blessed to have each and one of my subscribers and am totally grateful
for everything that has come to my life because of you all!
Gracias por amarme gorda o flaca.
Gracias con todo mi corazon!
Earlier this week I looked into the mirror and scared myself. I was a hairy beast and my eyebrows, face lions, like Miley…needed to be tamed. I was waxing it up and when I was “done” I was measuring and noticed I waxed too much. Now you would think a simple quick fix would be to just make the other caterpillar thinner, but if I made it bad I didn’t want to make it worse. I was looking up tips and tricks on YouTube and ran into a few videos using “Spiked” Eye Brow Crayon by MAC Cosmetics. As soon as I got home I could not wait to check it out.
My first impression of the product was : I might be too buff for this pencil. Its super thin and when I twisted the liner/crayon out I was worried it was going to be too dark and harsh and I would look like I joined a local gang in just an hour’s time.
I have a lot of girl friends who draw in their eyebrows everyday and I saw how much work it was. Luckily this pencil took much effort to make a thick dark line. I made one line and it was pretty light, then I doubled up on the next line using a slightly heavier hand.
Over all I really like this product and would recommend you all to try something different. I usually just fill in my eyebrows with powder eyeshadow. Matte is the best and the only type you should use. No one was born with glitter in their brows. Ive had jet black hair and even then I would just a dark brown color. Its a lot softer on the face than crazy black sharpie looking black eyeliners.
Shades that I often use are “Espresso” by MAC, “Perfect ‘B'” and “Burnt” by Pandora’s Makeup Box. I use only angled brushes and if you are using anything else…god bless you. I like to clean around my brows with “Boi-ing” by Benefit instead of white shadows and or pencils. Who really goes around town with brows that crazy? Lets keep it as close to natural as possible ladies.
Yesterday I had a chance to try a bath bomb from LUSH for the first time. Jude was eating a teething cookie and got it everywhere! I figured this was the best time to use one of the baby face bath bombs.
The one I am blogging about, Ickle Baby Blue Angel, is currently sold out! Bummer. An alternative would be the Ickle Baby Pink Devil bath bomb ( http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products/bath-shower/bath-bombs/ickle-baby-pink-devil ). I am completely sold on this product. My first impression was that it was so small (compared to other bath bombs in the store) that it was not really gonna change the bath water. WRONG. The little baby face instantly fizzes up and the water turned a milky purple/blue color. Jude was so intrigued by all off the action in the water. He was so calm and relaxed.
The water was smooth and creamy and it felt like there was lotion in his bath water. I am not a fan of lavender, but it was so light that I loved the sent. The next time I see a LUSH I know I will pick up a bag of these bath bombs for Jude. They are about $3 a piece so they would have to be a once in a while” bath treat. Along with the pictures that I took, for those of you that have not seen my LUSH haul video…enjoy. I hope you all have a fun and fabulous weekend! -Sonia
Today I looked in the mirror and noticed I had soooo much hair around my eyebrows and I was due for a good waxing yesterday! I remembered I had a bottle of GiGi Sugar Bare (Microwave Formula) in the restroom just incase I couldnt get a last minute appointment at the salon. If you are planning to try this product out don’t forget to pick up a pack of GiGi Natural Epilating Strips & Applicators. It comes with different size applicators that make it easy to wax different spots on the body. If you have really tender skin and have a low tolerance for pain I don’t recommend it. Also I suggest giving yourself at least an hour for the swelling and redness to go away before you apply makeup! When I go to get it done by a professional they commonly use a cooling gel or oil, since I have sensitive skin I opt for a hot towel or a face cleansing wipe instead. When my face had time to relax and I am ready to apply makeup, I love filling in my eyebrows with a dark shadow. I have Dark Brown/Black hair and using a pencil in a “black” makes the face look too harsh. Instead try using a deep brown like ‘Espresso’ by MAC and apply the shadow with a stiff angle brush with light strokes. My eyebrows have been threw alot and one is a little thicker than the other and this technique helps me the most. Good luck and let me know how it works for you! -Sonia
